One of the biggest challenges that we face as Christians is holding on to our faith during times of trouble. Jesus wants you to know that He will walk with you and strengthen your faith. As a matter of fact Jesus created a beautiful vehicle to bring you closer to Him–Holy Eucharist. There were a couple of Disciples that gained immediate insights the power of the Eucharist.
The two Disciples–Cleopas and another Disciple–had been with Jesus as the crowds formed. They were not with the original twelve Disciples of Jesus. However, they joined the Jesus movement sometime before their triumphant entry into Jerusalem. They witnessed Jesus heralded as a conquering hero.
Then to their amazement Jesus allowed himself to be captured by the Chief Priest and the Roman Governor.
He was crucified, died and was buried. The rumor was that he had been resurrected from the dead–just like Lazarus. But they did not believe it.
They traveled from Jerusalem to Emmaus. Jerusalem had become too violent and inhospitable. They were looking for peace and quiet in Emmaus. Their hearts were sad while on the Road to Emmaus.
Jesus came and walked with them and comforted them by proclaiming the Good News of God’s love to them throughout the scriptures.
Then they sat down to eat and Jesus took some bread; blessed it; broke it, and; gave it to them. Their eyes were immediately opened to God’s intimate love for humanity through grace and sacrifice of Jesus Christ. The Holy Eucharist opened their eyes to power walking with Jesus. Jesus is walking with you now. Jesus is present in the Eucharist. Please enjoy your beautiful faith-walk.
